Colleen On How To Be A Modern Day Bombshell

Christmas 2009

Ah friends. We know by now that facebook quizzes are unequaled sources of knowledge when it comes to telling us that little bit about ourselves that perhaps we are blind to. In their extensive wisdom, they are treasure troves, a wealth of information about ourselves. They are eye openers. The determining factor in discovery of self. We need only click on the right answer to questions like "Wutz ur fav color lol" and with that one click, light is shed, revealing the darkest places in our psyches. Pieces of the puzzle of who we are begin to fall into place.

I've had several epiphanies this way. And several disheartening shocks as well but if a facebook quiz says so, then who am I to doubt it?

I was shocked at one point to learn through one such quiz that I am at least "97% sociopath who delights in destroying people's lives for the sheer pleasure of it". And see, I always thought I wasn't really a bad person at heart. How wrong I was.

Today yet another faucet of my personality was revealed to me thank goodness. I never before have considered myself a 1950's style bombshell. But I am. That's why I included the above photo because it shows I've been a bombshell all along without realizing it. But yes, today I learned that I am the sort of girl that one doesn't want to take home to meet their mother and I'm a gold digger to boot. Well Facebook, what can I say, right again. That's me. Dead on.

Now I don't do quizzes ALL the time. I've only done about four actually. They've been so illuminating that doing more has been unnecessary.

Maybe not a bombshell, in the way this quiz describes it, but I remember going shopping with you and the sales lady said to me, You have a 1950's glamour girl! LOL! Glamourous, yes! A beauty queen, certainly, but a man-mad bombshell, I don't think so!

I notice you say nothing in regards to the one that said I was 97 percent sociopath? I particularly liked that one.;)

Ha ha.One more down and millions to go!
I was on Facebook till last week. I simply couldn't bear that silly, superficial place any longer, in
spite of all my relatives and their grandchildren being there.
All those shallow psycho wanna be tests, the games, angels, hearts, diamonds, animals and poker tournaments one had to reject, (feeling as if I turned down personal friends),the quotes, the even worse jokes.
Oh, I'm feeling free at last.
Not to speak of all the birthdays I had to remember, the thousands of wedding pictures I felt obliged to comment on, just this summer.

The indifferent YouTube clips or even worse, te personal party, party, part clips made me feel sick.

The only thing I did like, was my opportunity to react
to social injustice by joining several "causes".

I hope, that with a little effort, I can find other ways to make my engagement seen and heard.

Not to speak of the blunder, when I had to unfriend a so called friend.
She even got more offended than I intended, and that just by clicking on a button.

Oh, Colleen, today I really am talkative.
I should be doing more dull vacuuming, which is even worse than fb tests.
Hope I haven't been to much of a bore.

Go on being a sociopathic bombshell or whatever that stupid site do to make you feel bad. If it is of any consolation, I also always managed to land in five percent of the population groups, for good or for bad.

I guess that at least makes me unique!

I didn't even know you were on Facebook...We should be friends :) Those quizzes are so pointless yet for some reason I too find myself partaking in them... At least they are harmless!

You are never a bore Felisol!:) In fact, I agree so heartily with you! I can't tell you all the petty, silly little things that have happened because of FB! I do have it but have tried many times to leave it...it's like a bad relationship you just keep coming back to.:) I too have noticed a lovely sense of freedom every time I have shut my account down! Enjoy your evening and keep on being talkative, it's lovely!:)

Jenn, I know right? I never pass on forwards and I'm still here.:)

Hehe, thank you Becky! I shall try to wear something similar every day since it suits me so well.:)

Ah Lori, in a way it sounds perfect to be all cozy and snowed in.:) I'm glad I could make you smile, you do it often enough for me.:)

Yes Jamie I am, I can look you up as I am under an assumed name!:) Don't ask why, just am! ;)

Haha. What a source of enlightenment. It sounds like if you take a quiz a day you will have your entire future mapped out!

Hi Colleen,

I'm still laughing after reading your posts... well...that's facebook for you.

I believe though that you are a glamor girl and a beauty queen...yes I can believe that, but you don't need facebook to know that...

To tell you my FB story, I was there exactly five days, in December of 2009, to view my son's wedding pictures on the photographer's facebook account.

On the fifth day, I deactivated my account. They don't let you delete it, just deactivate it...

Simply put, I don't like Facebook. If others like it, that's okay. (But don't ask me what I think of them...ha-ha, let's not go there...)

Thanks for this post that has quite a subtle message woven between the lines!

Still smiling,
Lidj

Ha! I can't tell you the last time I was on FB. Not that I'm against it. It's just such a time sucker that I have to stay away!

I've taken a couple of those quizzes in the past with crazy results. Mostly I ignore them; along with Farmville, Mob thing, heart requests, hug requests and all the other requests!

Colleen said...

Alicia, done.:)

Robin, yes I thought the same. Aren't we lucky to have such quick easy answers to our rather complicated questions?;)

Lidj, I am happy to make you smile! Thank you for your lovely compliment!

JBR and Leia, I'm glad you enjoyed my silliness.:)

Angela, my pleasure...still praying for the best for you.

Carol, I know, time sucker is the best description of it I've heard! Last year I actually gave it up for Lent!:)

Colleen - That's really funny. I have an aversion to this stuff on FB and learnt quite early to ignore all such invitations. Doesn't stop me from reading what my friends turn out to be :)

My colleagues are accusing me of breaking the line of contact with them after my facebook social suicide. But here I am, still surviving and have contact with my true friends. I wouldn't deny the fact that I may create a discreet prof with no "analysing my personality" tests polluting my wall

Hahaha! Love your post! I do very little on Facebook.
Your photo is wonderful! You look like someone I would really want to be friends with! My best friend wears outrageous hats. She has a Christmas pin that she made out of a piece of fruitkcake dipped in polymer!!

LOL.....Well, as a bombshell myself, representing Bombshells - Southeastern Chapter. We sport big hair, full skirts and bubblegum pink lipstick. You're welcome at any of the meetings. Facebook quizzes are a guilty pleasure to be sure! ~Serene
