Maybe I Could Snap Her Up In A Butterfly Net?

I am horrified at myself. And slightly amused. But mostly horrified.

I confess, (chances are that many of you have long suspected this), I have an active and well, imaginative, imagination. When I walk with William, I make good use of this time when he is most relaxed: I think profound thoughts, I make up wild, impossible stories and scenarios in my head. Some days I get a lot of looks from people I pass on these walks. I usually smile brightly in return, putting these looks down to the fact that I'm just absolutely irresistible in my crocs and baggy brown shorts and tee. Today though I realized that they're looking at me because I'm actually mumbling my thoughts, in all their profoundness, aloud as I walk.

My goodness, they might say, there's that nut from Canada again. Children, if she comes close, just come inside and shut the door quietly...

And in the shop today I couldn't find diapers. So I asked the cashier where they were. Like this (except in Norwegian): "Excuse me could you please tell me where to find diapers? Childrens diapers?"

Sigh. Why in the world did I feel that question needed to be added to? I'm not yet 30, I doubt they thought I meant diapers for myself.

Ah well, a day in the life, huh?

Ha ha, too funny. I end up talking to myself all the time, and not really realizing it was out loud until someone stared at me. As for the "children's diaper" experience, I can only put that down to social anxiety. ;)

Norwegians are used to all kinds of "strangers", and they are flattered when people bother to learn their (our) language.
I wouldn't bother too much about what people think, you'll never get to know it all anyway, and you probably aren't interested either.

Enjoy life as best you can.
To day we have summer, really barefoot summer.
If I were not so tired from working in the garden, I would have gone for a swim in the sea.

To night I'll hopefully laugh with the Dubliners...

P.S: You know how the saying goes, "I had to talk to a sensible person, so I am talking to myself."

Ah, a fellow Canadian!:) Thank you for dropping by Angela! I'm the same way with my tea and coffee, although when I'm home in Canada I somehow can't resist buying dainty, elegant little tea cups at garage sales! (Little old lady Colleen.:) Take car and hope you are staying cool in this crazy heat wave I've been reading about!
Felisol, you are so right, Norwegians are SO accepting of people who even just try to speak their language, even when foreigners like myself make an awful mess of it, people always say I'm doing very well! So they are kind.:) Too true, I don't actually care much what other people think but none the less, it can be fun to wonder.;) I am definitely enjoying these glorious summer days and opportunities to go barefoot and of course, these enchanting conversations with myself! Have a fantastic weekend!
